Our core mission is to give people a way to be loud about this cause, but we also recognize that until we can change it, there is an immediate need for funding now. We want to be a part of the solution to both of these problems.
Our impact baseline.
We're brand new. Our 2-person team launched this website in May of 2026. We're bootstrapped and small, but refuse to make any promises we can't keep. So we established our BASELINE. A clear, calculable impact that we commit to from Day 1 and aim to increase at every stage of this project's lifespan.
Here's where we are at so far:

Here's exactly what each order triggers, who receives it, and how. The whole arrangement, plainly stated.
Monthly Donations based on items sold
At least once per month, we calculate the total number of items sold and donate proportionate funds to cover the cost of 20 meals for each item sold. Greater Good periodically publishes information regarding the current cost of providing a meal for shelter dogs, and we update our donations periodically to ensure that the donations reflect current calculations. The specific item or price does not matter. No giving cap, no minimum spend. This is our absolute baseline, even from Day 1 of the project.

Sent every month.
Donations are processed through Pledgeling Foundation, a 501(c)(3) (EIN 46-2440594) that collects the funds and passes them through to Greater Good Charities. We currently remit multiple times per month, but have our floor set at monthly, so that no money just sits with us. It gets put into action as quickly as possible.
Ongoing, no end date.
Running since May 1, 2026 with no planned end. If we ever change the program, we'll post 30 days' notice right here before anything changes. And importantly, the baseline only goes up.

How it works →Why 20 meals.
It's a donation mechanic that customers can easily understand. Our primary goal is to provide a voice to a cause that needs volume. We think that we can be a true leader in this regard, but "attention" is something that's hard to quantify, so we want to ensure that we have some more tangible effects as well.
The ratio.
Greater Good Charities periodically provides calculations for the cost of providing meals through their GOODS program. We use their published calculations to ensure that we are always matching the current rate for 20 meals.
The multiplier.
Greater Good Charities is a massive organization with the ability to buy and distribute food in bulk through infrastructure that already exists. They have the sway to work with pet food manufacturers, retailers, and many more to ensure that every penny is stretched as far as possible.

Every number on this page traces back to a source you can verify. We named the charity, linked their public record, and put our donation count on the table. This page is updated once per month to show the most up-to-date impact calculations.

We know that trust is earned. We show our numbers on Day 1, and we'll be doing the same on Day 1,000.
Headless Labs LLC dba Stray Project is a for-profit company conducting a charitable sales promotion. For every item sold, the monetary equivalent of 20 meals is donated to Greater Good Charities (EIN 20-4846675), a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, processed through Pledgeling Foundation (EIN 46-2440594). The "20 meals" figure reflects Greater Good Charities' published estimate which can be found on their website; it is an equivalency, not a guarantee that any individual purchase results in 20 specific meals. There is no cap on total donations. The program is ongoing as of May 1, 2026.
